Hi Cindy,
Your mattress is upholstered with plant based memory foam.
While it is not toxic, it is temperature sensitive...as is regular memory foam.
It softens when it warms from the heat your body gives off, which allows you to sink too far.
This, is what's causing the back pain.
Before buying anything, flip your mattress over and dress it as you normally would.
Write to me tomorrow, after sleeping on the underside tonight.
We can then figure out what is the best course of action.

So, we flipped over mattress last night and the other side was a little too hard. I was tossing and turning all night, a little too firm for our comfort. I did not wake up sore though.

That means that you don't need a new mattress.
The underside is providing support enough for your backs.
Now, all you need is a latex topper to soften the surface.
You'll find that latex is much more comfortable than memory foam.
It won't collapse on you, the way memory foam does.
Two inch of soft Talalay latex will do the job.
