Can you tell me if your talalay latex mattress toppers are made in the USA? Also, what would be the disadvantages of getting a 3" one instead of a 2" one? We are 250 and 220 pounds and have a very firm older mattress that we need to soften to get pressure off of the pressure points because of back, hip and shoulder pain. I had someone tell me that at our weights we might sink into the mattress on just a 2" and on anything softer than a 28/32. We have looked at different places online and it seems everyone thinks their products are the best and some cost less and some more than yours and so I wanted to find out what you would say are the advantages of buying a topper from you instead of somewhere else. Other places have told me there are differences in even the same thing called 2 or 3" talalay foam in 28 firmness and I just wanted to find out what the advantages of your particular foam would be? I am hoping to buy one very soon and just want to make sure I have done the best research I can before I purchase one. Thanks Mark Hi Mark,
Our Talalay Toppers are made in the US, by Latex International of Connecticut. We find that the 3" soft talalay latex topper, which creates a greater depth of softness, allows the heaviest parts of your body to sink too far...throwing off the natural alignment of your spine, which often results in back pain. We find that the 3" soft works best for people who are small and light in weight...petite people who do not exert much pressure. The 2" soft does the optimum job of comforting people who are average to above average weight. You don't sink through latex. It holds you up...creating a zero-gravity feel that is extremely comfortable. Our Soft Talalay Latex has an ILD range of 14-19...mush softer and providing mush greater pressure point relief than a latex with an ILD rating of 28. Dunlop Latex is about that and is best as a support layer, rather than a comfort layer. The latex toppers should last you a long time. Latex is extremely resilient....much more so than any other type of foam. Our topper at home is now 6 years old with no sign of wear....with both of us in the 220 some pound range. Here is a link to the latex toppers. Delivery is free and there's no sales tax.
