Simmons Beautyrest or All Natural Latex Mattress for a Child's Bed.

Hi!
Love your website, it's been really helpful. 
My wife and I are researching what mattress to buy for our almost 3 year old. If possible, we'd like to buy a full sized mattress that will last her a good 20 years. We noticed that you strongly recommend the Flatbrook Luxury Firm as well as the 100% natural latex. 
Obviously we like the price better on the Flatbrook but if Latex is that much better we'd consider spending more money now. Keep in mind, we'd need a full sized set, so would it still cheaper in the long run to go latex? We also have a 10 month old girl who will need a mattress in a couple years, so we'll have this expense hitting us again at that time. Here are my questions:
1. Will the Flatbrook last that long or would we need to get a newer, softer mattress later?
2. If latex, do you recommend the one piece 6" or should we just get the two piece 9" now, given how long we will have the mattress? 
3. If it is the 9" you recommend, should we go soft, medium or firm on the Talalay?
4. Is the rubber smell from the natural latex mattress bad for kids? Does it go away eventually?
5. Do you have any other suggestions for us?

Hi BJ,
Consider that a mattress is a pressure sensitive item. The amount of pressure placed upon it will determine how it will wear. This is accumulative over time.
First, get in your mind an idea of how large your 3 year old is likely to become.
For instance, a boy with a 250 father is likely to grow to that same size...while a female child is likely to grow to a much smaller size.
If you project your 3 year old to grow to be a very large person, the 6" Dunlop latex mattress will be your best choice, as it will continue to be supportive and comfortable in the later years of its use.
The Flatbrook, alone, will last a good 10 years.
If your child is likely to grow to more of an average size, you can add a 2" latex topper to the Flatbook, which will get you to about the 20 years you're looking for, and do so at a savings in price over the all latex mattress.
