Hello,
I keep coming back to your website after scouring the internet preparing to purchase a mattress for the first time in over 10 years. My husband and I have a combined weight of around 580 pounds.
I am focused on the latex products based upon your reviews that I read on your blog. Before I go tracking all over the city visiting stores, I researched bariatric mattresses and it appears a height of 12" to 15" is recommended. What else would you recommend? I want to take advantage of the sales this Labor Day weekend, however, I also want to be a wise shopper. My budget is up to $2000.
Thank you.

There's no hurry. Mattress sales are more illusion than reality. And, the stores have nothing to offer you that will hold that kind of body weight for any length of time.
The only reason we have something for you, is because I went out had had it made.
A lot has changed in 10 years....and not for the better. There is a lot of memory foam used in today's mattresses.
Memory foam does a great job of creating an initially comfortable mattress, which makes them easy to sell.
Memory foam does and equally good job of relieving the manufacturers of having to replace mattresses under the warranty...as memory foam will return to enough of it's original shape when you get off of it, so there isn't enough of a sustained impression to qualify for a new mattress...even though it quickly loses is support when you are on it.
It's a great product for those reasons...benefiting the retailers and the manufacturers....and causing a real problem for the consumer.
Memory foam, from a consumer standpoint, is thee worst material ever invented for use in the mattress industry....and it's extremely hard to avoid when shopping at stores.
For your sizes, we recommend an innerspring mattress that was specifically designed to support that kind of weight and more.
For surface comfort, we recommend adding a latex topper to it. Together, your bodies will have the support they need to last a good many years...and the surface comfort to sleep deeply, with latex being the longest lasting upholstery material on the planet.
Specifically, I am talking about the Therapedic Two-sided and flippable Medi-Coil Ultimate Permatuft, in either firm or plush.
For the latex toppers, a 1.5" layer of soft Talalay Latex foam under 1.5" layer of Dunlop Latex foam.
For your sizes, this is the very best you can do. You'll sleep well and no one in the mattress business will hear from for a very long time.
This mattress has been on the market for 5 years with my heaviest customers topping individual weights of 500 lbs.
Here are the links to that mattress and the latex toppers.
