Hello, Pete.
Hello, Pete.
Please recommend a king-size bed for us.
His issues: Aged 62, 6 ft 3 in; 245 lb; side & back sleeper; pain in lower back, right shoulder, and right knee
Her issues: Aged 59, 5 ft 6 in, 180 lb, side & stomach sleeper, fibromyalgia (more pain when staying in any position too long)
We have a Jamison "Marriott Bed" purchased about 10 years ago. It is a foam mattress over a box spring foundation. The springs sag and the body impressions are deep. We tried just the mattress on the floor, and it was more comfortable.
We have been reading about and discussing mattresses for over a year. Based on Consumer Reports recommendations, my husband wants to buy a Costco Novaform foam. I don't. We're stuck.
We need to get more restful sleep in order to be more productive. Please help us made a decision soon. Labor Day sales are coming up, and we're ready to buy.

Hi Karen,
It's a shame about CR. I've used them over the years to buy all sorts of things.
A couple of years ago, CR came out with a Mattress Issue, where they offered no recommendations, citing that the mattress industry was much too complex for them to understand.
That was the last bit of truth to come out of them. 6 months later, after getting some flack over their last report, they interviewed 100 people in Denver and based their recommendations on those interviews. Their conclusions were all wrong. A year later, they tested 12 mattresses....12, out of the 12,000 that are currently on the market. Again, their conclusions are all wrong.
My opinion of memory foam, is that it is thee worst material ever invented for use in or as a mattress.
Here are posts from a couple of my blogs...questions and answers for you to peruse. Perhaps it will shed some light on the truth for you. Right now, your husband is a victim of the hype.

What I would recommend for you, is a Simmons Beautyrest, which uses individually pocketed coils...all moving independently from one another...designed to maintain the natural alignment of your spine and dramatically reduce motion transfer between the two of you.
Given his size, it would be the Black Beautyrests, with half of the coils being a triple strand "Cable Coil", the strongest on today's market.
You'll add to that, a 2" soft Talalay Latex foam mattress topper, for pressure point relief and muscle relaxation.
Latex is much more resilient than memory foam and much longer lasting....and the best material available for comforting your fibromyalgia.
The Black model to get is the Ava in the luxury firm. Here are links to the mattress and the latex toppers. Delivery is free and there's no sales tax.
