Thanks Pete.
I read much of your info last night and we’re off the memory foam and all foam for that matter.
So I have this straight – my Venice Beach “latex” failed because it really wasn’t 100% latex and the non latex material (the foam) failed over time. So, as I look at latex moving forward, I’m locked in to 100% latex product like Pure Latex Bliss or Savvy Rest.
That raises the question of 100% organic/pure latex or a blend of pure / synthetic latex. Also, the Dunlop process vs. Talalay. Should I be concerned about a blended product relative to durability? I read conflicting material about one being stronger than the other. Or are we splitting hairs at this point.
Thanks for your time.

That's right. It was the poly foam used to soften the top of the Venice Beach that compressed.
When it comes to latex, there are few different ones and a couple more on the way.
Whatever anyone is selling, is the best of them....making an objective viewpoint hard to come by.
The original and still the most durable, is Dunlop.
The Talalay process is the same as the Dunlop, with a freezing step added to the process. This freezing step suspends the particles, making for a more supple feel.
The particles settle in the Dunlop process, making for a more dense material.
Synthetic latex is a molecular clone of natural latex. No toxic chemicals are used to make it.
The end result of All-Natural latex, being an all natural product, varies...the way grains of wood from the same type of tree.
In this case, it varies slightly in feel ever time you make it. Latex has an ILD rating...the lower the number, the softer the latex.
For instance, a soft all-natural Talalay latex will have an ILD rating of 14 to 19. The latex that is delivered to you could vary by that amount.
Mixing synthetic latex to it, makes it more consistent the same with each batch.
However, synthetic latex is not as durable as natural latex.
During the process of turning liquid latex into foam, it goes through a 5 stage washing, which removes most of the protein, the allergen, that is naturally found in latex and is common in latex gloves and bandages. This manifests itself as a topical allergy. The finished product has enough of the allergen removed to be called hypo-allergenic.
Very soon, we will be offering a latex that will be certified as completely allergen free....and, another that is Dunlop but feels like Talalay.
In a way, this can be considered splitting hairs, as any of these latex foams are infinitely better than any poly foam or memory foam.
With all of these being pressure sensitive materials, which to choose comes down to body weight. A heavy person will benefit from a latex mattress with, at least, a Dunlop core.
Light to average weight people can afford to be more indulgent with a greater degree of softness, using only Talalay.
My choice for best latex mattress, is the Ever-Eden, using a Dunlop core with a Talalay top....providing good firm support and a nice soft sleeping surface.
Here is the link to the Ever-Eden and the Pure Latex Bliss....the two brands that we carry. We are offering an additional 10% off during the holiday sale period.
