One other question:  box springs, or plywood under the Black Alexia mattress?

Absolutely. Just give me a call when you are ready to order.

A plywood base isn't enough. The plywood alone will bow. You would have to construct a box of 2" x 3"s and then top it with plywood.
This would be stronger and better than the matching boxsprings.
