Scoliosis, Firm Mattress & Soft Talalay Latex Foam Topper.

Katherine writes:

Hi Pete,
I have mild scoliosis. My back is at about 17 degrees and is an s curve, with most pain in the low and middle back due to muscle spasms. I'm sleeping on a 20+-year-old mattress with a memory foam top, but I am getting little to no support. I want to get something for better support, but I have no idea where to start. I am 5'8, 150 lbs, and a side sleeper.
thanks in advance!
Katherine

Hi Katherine,
Memory foam is worthless. You sink right through it after a short while. If adding a topper, get latex. 2" of latex does a great job....and does it long term.
Here's the link for those.

You, obviously need a firm mattress. If you would like to get a higher quality two-sided mattress that you can flip, the Cameo firm is an excellent choice....your best choice

Most of the mattresses today are one sided...and you'd be lucky to get 5 years from them. 20 years ago, a mattress took 10 years to begin showing wear.
Today, the first signs of wear show up within months of purchase. Your back will be sensitive to that...much more sensitive than most....and won't tolerate the changes that today's mattresses go through is so short a period of time.

Thanks, Pete
