Which Latex Mattress? Getting rid of memory foam.

My husband and I are looking into the S&F latex bed. I was wondering if you could tell me more about it because we could only find it at one store and I did not see it on your website. I know S&F makes a good product with coils but how is their latex line? We had decided on latex because our memory foam pillows started to "breakdown" or lost their firmness after a short time and we did not want to have those same issues with a bed. We tried your latex pillows, and they are wonderful. Do the memory foam beds experience this problem and do the manufactures cover this under warranty? My husband wants a firmer bed while I like a softer bed which is why we decided latex or memory foam so that way we can get the best of both...are we right in our line of thinking?
Do you have any more recommendations? THANK YOU!

Hello,
Glad to hear you're enjoying the pillows. We use latex pillows at home. They are very comfortable and last for many years.
Memory foam is designed to fail, as yours has. They want you buying new ones frequently. You'd have noticed that when you get off of your memory foam mattress, that it returns to its original shape...or close to it. It's this, that keeps you from prevailing in a warranty claim...diabolical, really.
Latex is and has been the best you can buy since the 1920s...excellent comfort and support that lasts for decades.
However, not all latex is the same. The best is all-natural. Of them, Dunlop is more dense and the most durable...excellent as a support layer. All-Natural Talalay Latex is the most comfortable. The Talalay process uses an extra freezing step that Dunlop doesn't have, which suspends the particles, resulting in a less dense, more supple material...excellent for surface comfort.
The latex used by S&F is synthetic latex. They call it "Smart Latex" instead of calling it synthetic. Synthetic latex is less durable, but still, a whole lot better than memory or polyurethane foam.
The S&F Latex Collection models use varying amounts of their synthetic latex, along with varying amounts of poly foam. It's the poly foam they use on top that will break down first...and fairly quickly. As you noted, you can no longer find them on our website. Last year, Sealy/S&F was purchased by Tempurpedic....and how I feel about them is no secret....kinda like how Peter Clemenza
felt about Don Barsini in the original Godfather movie. But, I digress.

In embracing the superiority of latex over memory foam and the one-sided innerspring mattresses available in today's market, we have taken on 3 major all latex mattress brands and have turned our backs on Tempurpedic's Sealy/S&F products....shown here: http://themattressexpert.com/mattress-brands/
The first mattress I would suggest for you, is produced by the least expensive of these brands. The Ever-Eden latex models use a Dunlop core and a Talalay Latex top...for the best of both in their proper, most efficient use. These are less expensive because they ship UPS. If you can handle not getting white glove delivery, you can save some money. Of them, their 9" model, (using a 6" Dunlop core and 3" of soft Talalay latex on top), is he most comfortable of them.
The second choice would be the pureLatexBLISS "Nature" or "Nutrition" models. These are all Talalay Latex and bit more in cost, but do come with white glove delivery.
In both cases, delivery is free and there's no sales tax.
I would think that you would need a mattress only to use with the foundation you have now...which should be perfectly fine. It's certainly strong enough.

Thanks, Pete
