Latex or latex hybrid mattress for a futon.

John Writes:
We are looking at convertible beds for my 13-year-old son, who is quite
tall for his age, and expected to be even taller. His room, however, is
very small. Our thoughts are that a futon/click clack convertible
full-size bed will suit his needs, as he can convert the bed to a sofa
in the morning or when friends come over, so there is more room in his
bedroom for activity. My son has fallen in love with a
convertible/futon/click clack model. It
seems well-made, heavy and sturdy, but is pricey, at $1700. The mattress
used on the bed is a memory foam. The bed comes with a
5-year warranty.
After reading your blog and others, I worry about the quality of this
mattress. However, all other convertible beds I have seen that are
cheaper have very cheap 'pads' meant for occasional use, not nightly
use as we want for our son. Can you advise? He truly needs a convertible
bed for his tiny little room, but we want him to have a good night's
sleep too. Thanks. John

Hi John,
If you can buy the frame without the mattress, you can substitute a latex mattress. This will be more comfortable, longer lasting and all-natural with none of the toxic chemicals associated with memory foam. You can even use a lesser expensive Latex Hybrid, which should work just as well for your son's needs.
Here are the links to our latex lines...all have all-latex and latex-hybrids. The EverEden models will be the most cost effective.
