Simmons Black vs. TrueEnergy Mattress for scoliosis

Jim writes:

Are the constructions identical in these two mattresses, apart from the triple springs on the Ansleigh and the single springs on the TrueEnergy? They feel quite different (Plush/Firm): the T-Energy has more give on the surface, but it's hard to imagine that the coils can account for this alone. Considerations in my mind are scoliosis and which mattress will work best for that; and durability (I know one option is to soften the Ansleigh with a Latex topper; would that be better than buying a True Energy to get a similar feel?) Many thanks in advance. Jim

Hi Jim,
The Black models use a triple wire coil in every other row...that's half the bed. And yes, That is the difference you feel.
Scoliosis requires firm support. If you are average weight, the TruEnergy is fine...as long as you stay with plush/firm.
The Brielle is the best buy in that line....shown here: http://themattressexpert.com/mattress-brands/simmons/beautyrest-truenergy-2/

However, the Black is stronger and there is little difference in price. My wife and I are large people, and so we went with the Black Ansleigh plush/firm.
However, for someone with scoliosis, I would suggest the Ansleigh "luxury firm"...which uses a heavier gauge wire for the single coils.

My wife and I use a 2" soft Talalay Latex topper with our Ansleigh. It provides relief for my wife's sore hip and added durability to the mattress.
