Latex mattresses and toppers for Fibromyalgia

Janice writes:

I have bulging discs in my neck and lower back along with auto-immune issues causing joint pain and fibromyalgia. I am 5'3" and weigh 170#. Medication for the fibromyalgia causes hot flashes and sweating issues. I have tried a 3" memory foam, (a brand that supposedly sleeps cooler than regular memory foam), with poor results. I get very hot, have trouble moving in the bed, and end up sleeping on the sofa. Our 11 year old Stearns and Foster is a plush top. We are willing to buy a new bed if needed, I just don't have a clue what to buy. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Janice

Hi Janice,
Memory foam is worthless for the job of softening the surface of a mattress. Besides being hot, you sink through memory foam, as if it wasn't even there.
For you, any sleep system will include a 2" layer of soft latex. Latex sleeps cool and you don't sink through it. I suggest buying that first. You may find, as many have, that the latex topper does the trick and the purchase of a new mattress isn't yet necessary.
Here is the link to the latex toppers.

Also, it has been determined that regular deep tissue massages work well in restoring proper blood flow to the surface of your body, greatly relieving the affects of fibromyalgia. These massages can be a bit painful, at first, but the results make that well worth it.
If you find that a new mattress is necessary, look into an all latex model. It is, far and away, better than memory foam in every respect, and sleeps cool. Here's a link to the best of them.
