Simmons Beautyrest Flatbrook with a latex topper

I'm looking for a mattress to use with a platform bed (no box spring). I was looking at the Simmons Flatbrook in plush or plush pillowtop. I'm mainly a side
sleeper and I'm 6ft tall, 180 lbs. I recall reading that pillowtops became
deformed and weren't recommended. Please let me know your thoughts on these 2 or other) options. I'm looking to stay roughly in this price range.

Hi Prosper,
I would not recommend a plush version of any Beautyrest. The "plush" is attained by using a much thinner gauge wire for the coils. It creates a greater depth of softness, which wears out much too quickly.
When choosing a Simmons Beautyrest at any level, it's imperative that you opt for the Luxury Firm choice of comfort. It will have the same comfortable padding as the plush, and will last a whole lot longer.
To further soften a luxury firm model, add a 2" soft Talalay Latex topper. Unlike the poly foam in the pillowtops, the latex will last form many years...and be more comfortable, as well.
Adding latex to the top of an innerspring, extends the life of the mattress. Latex is extremely resilient and will absorb most of your body weight...relieving the stress on the mattress.
Here are the links to the right mattress and to the latex toppers.
