What is a Memory Foam Mattress? Which is the Best?
Memory foam is a temperature sensitive material that is purposefully designed to soften as is warms from the heat your body gives off.
The idea is to have it soften enough to contour to the shape of the body.
This works well for people who are young and physically fit, who give off only a little body heat.
For people who are heavier, who give off a greater amount of body heat, the memory foam tends to soften too much, allowing the body to sink too far, which throws off the natural alignment of the body and spine.
This usually results in back pain.
People who are older tend to experience back pain as well, regardless of size, as discs tend to wear with age and become sensitive to even slight sinking into the foam.
Some memory foams are made of plant based materials. But most memory foams are chemical based and not cured before being used in the making of the mattress.
This result is off gassing as the cells break open during use.
Some of the chemicals used in the making of the most common memory foams are highly toxic and can have a negative affect on the respiratory systems of those breathing in those fumes.
Memory foam mattresses are not made of all memory foam. They are all hybrid mattresses and the memory foam can be supported by either high density polyurethane foam or a coil system.
Since memory foam is a temperature sensitive material, absorbing your body’s heat, it reflects that heat back to you.
Causing the mattress to sleep hot is a common complaint.
Unless you are young and physically fit, a memory foam mattress tends to last only a short time…anywhere between several months to a couple/few years, at the most.
Magniflex is the best of this type of mattress.
Their “MemoForm” foam is NOT memory foam.
Magniflex’s MemoForm Foam, provides the same comfortable contouring feel while avoiding ALL of the negative effects that are common with memory foam.
Magniflex Sleeps Cool, Contours to the body without allowing you to sink into it, regardless of body weight.
