Questions:

We are thinking of building our own platform bed.

Will this mattress would do fine on it?

Is it still necessary to rotate the mattress once/month 1/4 turn but not flip it?

Hi Johanna,

Any mattress will perform as it was designed to, on a platform bed...if you make it right, with a lengthwise center support that supports all of the cross slates and has legs to the floor from that center support.


You should always rotate a mattress for the sake of maximizing its comfort life.

If you are planning on quarter turning your king, you'll have to make the platform to accommodate the slight difference in length and width. 

You'd have to make it square to the longer dimension.
