What’s the Best, Longest Lasting Mattress for Big People?

What’s the best, longest lasting mattress for big people?

My wife and I are quite large. We each weigh more than 300 pounds.

Complicating things is a variety of physical ailments.

I suffer with back pain and my wife’s hip always hurts her.

As you can imagine, we’ve been going through mattresses like water.

Salespeople swear that this mattress or that mattress will hold up, but they never do for longer than a couple of years.

I’m not talking about cheap online mattresses.

The last 4 have been expensive, name brands that we thought would be good.

We’re at our wits end over this and can’t afford another mistake.

I found one of your blogs and read that you recommend a brand called Natura of Canada Greenspring, so I went to your website but wonder which would be best for us. Can you shed some light as to which one we should buy?

Hi Barry,

In 2013, Tempurpedic bought Sealy and S&F. We were a Sealy dealer at the time.

That sent us shopping at the industry trade shows.

That’s when we encountered Natura of Canada.

We were so impressed with the specifications of their Greenspring line, that we ordered their Ultra Plush model for use at home.

We’ve had that mattress for almost 12 years and it’s still in great condition, despite the fact that my wife and I weigh more than 200 pounds each.

These mattresses have an extremely high coil count, more than 1000 coils in queen size…a couple of hundred more than the standard coil count.

And, the upholstery materials are all natural, topped with Talalay Latex.

I, too, have a bad back…a very bad back, including herniated and bulging discs, as well as degenerative disc disease (DDD). For the past almost 12 years, I have slept and awakened without back pain.

These mattresses, due to the high quality and resiliency of the components, all feel firmer than they sound. The ultra plush model was not soft enough for my wife’s sensitive hip, which seems to be a common complaint with bigger women.

So, we added a 3” Soft Latex Topper for the additional surface comfort that my wife needed, which worked like a charm without negating the underlying firm support I needed for my back.

I recommend a similar sleep system combination for you and your wife.

Since you each weigh about 100 pounds more than we do, I recommend that you start with their Plush model and add the same soft topper to it.
