Hi Pete,
I have an antique bed that first belonged to my mom’s grandmother…my great grandmother, who I never knew.
I’ve been having a very hard time finding a mattress for this bed.
It’s a 3/4 size, 48” wide x 75” long.
The mattresses that I’ve been able to find would be custom made and very expensive. And, they’re all much thicker than the mattress that’s supposed to fit this bed.
It’s in a second spare bedroom and will see rare use, so I can’t see spending a lot of money on it. The bed is gorgeous and I want to keep it for the look of it.
I was talking to mom about all this and she advised me to ask you.
She bought her mattress from you and said that you knew more about mattresses than anyone else that she spoke with.
So, can you help me find an appropriate, affordable mattress for my treasured antique family heirloom bed?
Thanks, Lisa
Hi Lisa,
Thank your mom for me.
The answer to your problem is much easier than you’d think.
Recreational Vehicles, typically, use mattresses that size.
You have to be careful, as so many are made with memory foam, which off gasses some pretty nasty chemicals, something I’m sure you don’t want to introduce to your home. So, I’m sending you a link to PlushBeds RV Mattress links.
These mattresses are organic, inexpensive and measure about 8” thick, which would have been about the right height for your antique bed.
