Actually, you’re better off keeping your firm model and buying a soft latex topper to go on it.
That will give you the surface comfort you want and it will also create a barrier between you and the memory foam, which will increase the longevity of your mattress.
If you exchange it for a plush, the memory foam will start to wear out in 6 months or so… and will be completely shot within a year’s time.

If I exchange it, and it does wear out in 6 months, its got 10yr manufacturers warranty... I shouldn’t have to pay for a topper for the $1500 mattress I just bought..

You’re correct! You shouldn’t have to. Unfortunately, because you bought a mattress upholstered with memory foam, you must.
Memory foam is called memory foam because it returns to its original shape when you get out of bed.
So when you’re sinking into it so far that you’re in pain and no longer sleeping well, you’re highly unlikely to prevail in a warranty claim.
