Hi Pete,
What mattress most closely resembles the Sealy Waikiki Beach Mattress? She bought it from you, about 15 years ago?
My mom now has it in her guest bedroom and it’s the most comfortable mattress that I’ve ever slept on.
I want one for my home, but it is now discontinued.
I can't figure out if it’s memory foam or latex or what!
Can you help me?
Thanks, Melody (Mel)
Hi Mel,
That Sealy mattress used a Synthetic Latex Core, a Blended Talalay Latex top layer and the cover was quilted to Polyurethane foam.
(Blended Talalay Latex was 30% Natural and 70% Synthetic Latex)
It was a very comfortable and very long lasting mattress.
The factory that was producing synthetic latex and the factory that was producing blended Talalay Latex, closed during the pandemic.
Even before that, in 2013, Sealy was purchased by Tempurpedic.
So, that mattress was discontinued about 10 years ago.
Post pandemic, the producer of pure latex, in Sri-Lanka, have repaired the latex supply line disruption in a way that’s better than ever.
Pure latex has always been the best, but had been expensive.
Today, you can get a Pure, Organic and Hypoallergenic Latex Mattress…factory direct…for less than Sealy bought synthetic latex.
My recommendation for you is The Latex for Less 12” Soft Pure, Organic and Hypoallergenic Latex Mattress.
This will feel, very much, like your mom’s Waikiki Beach.
It’s currently on sale.
And, it comes with a 120 Night Trial Period.
Here’s the link you’ll need to view that mattress and place your order.

Heads up: this post includes affiliate links. If you click and purchase, I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I have personally vetted.
If you need a new boxspring/foundation, I recommend the Magniflex KD Foundation, which comes in your choice of height and color.
They’re very strong and assemble easily with no tools needed.

Also recommended is a waterproof mattress protector, which prevents perspiration from seeping into the upholstery materials.
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will enhance longevity.
The Sleep & Beyond Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector is my recommendation…the one we use at home.
It sleeps cool and works well.
