Replacing an Old Simmons Beautyrest Mattress.

Hi Pete,

I found your blog and website and wanted to ask a question as we are in the market for a new mattress.  Circa 2005, we bought a Simmons BeautyRest Montague Euro Top Queen Mattress, Style # SI70295/0MAT.
The mattress height is approximately 12.5 inches.

We would like to purchase the same unit today in a King size but this exact style does not seem to be available.
Can you recommend an equivalent or how to isolate the technical specs so I can hunt for an equivalent?
Thanks, Joe

Hi Joe,
Simmons was sold in 2016.
The new owners concerned themselves about profits at the expense of quality.
You won’t be happy with the longevity of anything made by Simmons, today.
The major difference is all the memory foam being used, which is specifically designed to sell, but not to last…not to mention the off gassing of the toxic chemicals used to make memory foam…or that they sleep hot because of the memory foam, which is a temperature sensitive material.

The thing that has always made a Simmons Beautyrest so comfortable is the individually pocketed coil system, which provides contouring support that designed to maintain the natural alignment of the body and spine.
Today, you can get that same coil system from a variety of manufacturers.
What’s not so easy to find is one without memory foam.
All of the Name Brands have been sold…Sealy, Simmons, Serta, Stearns & Foster…all using the same worthless memory foam.

My best recommendation for most closely mimicking the same support, comfort and longevity as the mattress you have is the PlushBeds Luxury Bliss Mattress.
I recommend the medium if you are light to average in body weight…the
Medium-Firm if you’re heavier than average.
Here’s a link to that mattress, which you can order through this same link.

Heads up: this post includes affiliate links. If you click and purchase, I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. I only recommend products I have personally vetted.

This mattress comes with a 100 Night Trial Period.

If you have a matching boxspring, that will need to be replaced.
If needed, I recommend the Magniflex KD Foundation.
It’s very strong and comes in your choice of height and color.
It assembles easily and with no tools needed.
Here’s the link for that:
