Hi Jillian,
Both, Simmons & Serta have a two-sided mattress upholstered with memory foam. THAT's what went wrong.
They are the same company now, after having been sold to the same investment group.
An old fashioned mattress, made between 1970 to 2010, would have been upholstered with poly foam.
They wore well, didn't sleep hot and didn't off gas.
Wolf makes an old fashioned quality mattress, but not two sided, using an individually pocketed coil unit, which maintains proper spinal alignment. The upholstery is Certi-Pur Certified, mostly poly foam.
It wears well, does not sleep hot and there's NO Off Gassing.
