We need to replace our current King Mattress.

Hi Pete,

We need to replace our current King Mattress.

Looking for your advice on how to decide between:

1) the pure latex models like Suite Dreams/Portfolio from Suite sleep and the Nature Latex Level 1 & 2 on the one hand and:

2) the hybrid mattresses that have a coil system base with latex toppers like Natura Greenspring and the Williams Mattresses.

Is one better than the other or what would be the reasons to favor one over the other.

For background:

  • I am a generally fit person but do have occasional back issues. Weight about 170lbs. I am mostly a back sleeper.
  • My wife is a bit heavier (around 200 lbs) and sleeps on her back and sides (sometimes even on her stomach). She generally sleeps without pain but has lately started to have pain in her right arm in the morning, which we believe is from the current mattress being worn out.
  • Our current main mattress is a 15-year-old tempur-pedic mattress. We have been satisfied for many years but is no longer providing the support that it once did.
  • We have previously purchased with you a Wolf Mattress Adara Plush Tight Top. We use this mattress at our vacation house. I am happy with the support that mattress provides. I do however have occasionally some lower back pains in the morning. It mostly happens on the first and second night I sleep in the vacation house.
  • The new mattress will be supported by wooden slats that are very firm (2.5 inch gap between the slats).
  • Use of natural materials is important to us.

Thank you, Tom

Good Morning Tom,

Natura of Canada uses blended Talalay latex, which is 70% synthetic.
Nothing wrong with synthetic latex…a molecular clone of natural.
Their Greenspring mattresses are likely to be too firm for a large side sleeping women with arm pain. Even the ultra plush model is firm.
My wife and I have the Greenspring Ultra Plush and had to add a soft latex topper for my wife’s sensitive hip.
It’s a great mattress. Ours in 9+ years old and still in excellent condition.
We plan on moving to a dryer climate in about a year. When we do, we won’t be moving our 10 year old mattress. We will be buying the Williams Bristol, which will do the best job of relieving pressure point pain.
The Williams and Suite Sleep mattresses use only pure, organic latex…a higher quality latex than Natura. Theses are the highest quality mattresses available in each class.
The Suite Sleep Portfolio is the most comfortable of the all latex choices..
The Williams Bristol is the most comfortable of the pocketed coil/latex models.
Suite Sleep mattresses come with FedEx delivery to the front door.
The Williams and Natura mattresses come with white glove delivery.
White glove delivery includes setup in your bedroom and removal of all packaging materials.
Suite Sleep and Williams mattresses arrive in about 2 weeks.
Natura mattresses take about 6 weeks to arrive.
Delivery is free in all cases.

None of the components in any of these mattresses are made in China.
All of our latex products are hypoallergenic.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Thanks, Pete
