We are both side sleepers and of average height and build.

Back before Simmons was purchased by an investment group, they used high density memory foam that was cured to prevent chemical off gassing, which they used in your NxG model.
Since being sold, the new owners do not concern themselves with quality…only profits.
Nothing Simmons makes today is worth buying.
Which mattress I’d recommend is based on your sizes, heights and weights.
The mattresses in the links, below, use the same type of individually pocketed coil system that is what made your Beautyrest mattress so comfortable.
These mattresses have NO Memory Foam in them.
For average to above average body weight, one of the Wolf Hybrids is all you need.

As far as an adjustable bed is concerned, which model is a question of getting the features you want.
As far as performance, one isn’t generally better than another.
We don’t sell adjustable beds, but have found these to be an excellent value.
A king vs. 2 twin-xl mattresses is a matter of personal preference.
Each choice has its pros and cons….the gap in the center vs. the ability to adjust each bed separately.Thanks, Pete
