A mattress that’s strong enough to wear well under that kind of weight is likely to be too firm form comfort.
A mattress that’s comfortable is not likely to wear well.
For that reason, we recommend your purchase be in two parts.
Start off with a mattress that will wear well, and add a topper to make it comfortable.
Over time, you’ll replace the topper as needed while the mattress under it remains in good condition.
This is the most cost effective way to go about this.
That said, it then becomes important to choose a mattress and topper with NO Memory Foam. Memory foam is the worst upholstery material ever invented.
It wears poorly under even average body weight. And, it off gasses the toxic chemicals from which memory foam is made.
Unfortunately, most stores and mattress departments are a sea of mattresses upholstered with memory foam.
Since memory foam is highly deceptive, (losing its initial feel within months), trying before you buy has become an equally deceptive way to pick a mattress.
Fortunately, if you simply avoid any mattress that has memory foam in it, you are far more likely to make a successful purchase.
We specialize in mattresses that have no memory foam in them.
The question then becomes one of expense.
