Hi Pete,
We have a Tempurpedic luxe breeze soft mattress.
I am a side sleeper with lower back problems and the soft was the most comfortable mattress I tried.
I am 5 ft and my husband is 6'1". We are not obese but not thin.
I was assured it was good for my back, and that I did not have to worry about it getting "too soft" for years.
We have had it 7 months and I think it is getting a little mushy.
I was told that a latex topper would firm it up but have no idea what to buy.
What is your advice?
Thank you, HarrietHi Harriet,
They lied to you.
Tempurpedic mattresses are one of thee worst choices, along with Sleep Number, for anyone with pre-existing back problems.
If you have something soft to add to the mattress, like a comforter, flip the mattress over to the non-memory foam side and add your comforter.
If you need to buy something, soft organic latex will be the best option.
Here is a link to the Suite Sleep Organic Latex Toppers. 3” is softer than 2”.
It’s the memory foam at the top of your mattress that is causing your problem.
Memory foam is a temperature sensitive material that softens as it warms from your body heat. It’s not very resilient to start, so it only takes months before you finding yourself a new mattress.
Fortunately, the memory foam is only on top.
It’s supported by high density polyurethane foam.
Flip your mattress now…even if you have nothing to make it comfortable.
Sleep on the flip side tonight. Your back will feel better tomorrow. Thanks, Pete
VERY IMPORTANT:
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will increase its longevity.
We recommend our Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector.
