Simmons Beautyrest Mattress to Support a 240 lb. Man.

 Hi Pete,

My husband and I are looking at a Simmons Beautyrest mattress. 
They have named the mattress Grace Bay in luxury firm. 
Do you know if this particular mattress is a decent one, as today's mattresses go? 
Which name, if any, would compare to the Simmons mattresses you have? 
Or what recommendations would you have for us? 
My husband is 6'7, 240 lbs and I'm 5'7, 135 lbs. 
He's a back and side sleeper and I'm a side sleeper. 
Our current mattress is over 20 years old and we have a latex topper on it. 
It's not uncomfortable, but we do find ourselves tossing and turning more than we used to. 
We are thinking that, due to the age of the mattress, it's time to get a new one. 
We are a little hesitant because we have a mattresses from the 'good ole' days' that has served us well. 
We've heard many horror stories and are trying to make an educated purchase. 
Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi Janet,
Today's mattresses don't wear nearly as well as they did in the good ole' days.
The upholstery used today is mostly memory foam, which is the worst material ever invented...from a consumer's point of view.
Also, a mattress is a pressure sensitive item. 
That is to say, the more pressure you place upon it, the sooner it will wear out.
I'm referring, of course, to your husband's weight.
Once you get over 200 pounds, it becomes important to go with a Black model Beautyrest. 
The triple strand wire coil, in those models, is much stronger.
I would suggest a Black L-Class Medium model to support his size.
I would also suggest a layer of natural, plush latex to go on top.
Latex is and has been the absolute best upholstery material for the last 100 years.
Latex provides long lasting surface comfort and insulation from the memory foam in the mattress.
Because it absorbs so much of the body weight, the mattress will last much longer than the manufacturer intended.
