Asking for Your Mattress and Latex Topper Recommendation.

Thank you for a very informative website/blog!
My husband and I are mattress shopping after many years of use on our Serta SleepMaker Exquisite Luxury Firm mattress. 
We are long overdue for a change. In trying the store mattresses he prefers cushier and I prefer firmer.

I'm asking for your mattress and latex topper recommendation. 
I am 5' 7" and 160 lbs. Hubby is 5' 11" and 195 lbs. 
He has shoulder pain, sleeps very hot & restlessly. 
I have occasional hip pain, am a side and back sleeper and tend to be cold.

I'm also interested in any comfort difference between the 9" & 5.5" low profile mattresses in the Simmons Beautyrest line. 
It seems a waste to buy all new bedding when I have plenty, but am willing to convert if the 9" mattresses are far superior.

Hi Karen,
The 9” vs. 5.5” is the height choices for the boxspring.
Neither the feel nor longevity of the mattress is affected by whichever you choose.
The only thing affected is the overall height of the bed.
When choosing a mattress/latex topper combination, most people opt for low profile boxspring, just to make it easier to get in and out of bed.
