Replacing an Old Simmons Beautyrest Westbury Mattress.

Hi Pete,
I need your help.
I am replacing an old Simmons Beautyrest Westbury mattress, which I had for many years.
It has served me well, despite me weighing 280 lbs.
Now that it's time to replace it, I'd like to get another just like it.
I found a Westbury Plush mattress for sale, locally.
I'm also curious about Saatva mattresses.
Can you tell me what your thought are about those and like to see what you would recommend for me.
Thanks, Colleen

Hi Colleen,
Your old Westbury used polyurethane and latex foams.
It contained no memory foam, which is why it held up so well for you, for so long.

Today's Simmons Beautyrest Westbury uses Gel foam.
Gel is used with memory foam.
Memory foam sleeps hot and gel is used to mitigate the heat.
Memory foam is designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing.
It doesn't hold up well under light weight people and not at all under heavy people.
Plush Beautyrests are made plush by using a very thin gauge wire to make the coils.
The steel they use is raw steel, not tempered.
I’d feel better about recommending this mattress if it were a Luxury Firm with a heavier gauge wire coil.
If you’re expecting this to be the same as your last Westbury, you’ll be disappointed.
This mattress will give you a couple of years, at most.

The Saatva mattress info says nothing about the upholstery material they use in it.
Since this company uses both, latex and memory foam, you need to find out what upholstery materials are being used.
Also, there’s no information about the coils.
You must know about the components of a mattress...and not base your decision on sales hype...which is all the info they offer.

I wouldn’t recommend a plush Beautyrest mattress to anyone, which it why we show none of them on our website, even though we have access to them.

When we recommend a Simmons Beautyrest mattress, we also recommend a latex topper to go with it. Otherwise, it won’t hold up.
And, I would never recommend a Platinum Series Beautyrest to people of your size.

My recommendation for you is the mattress we have at home.
The Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush Mattress uses a heavy gauge wire coil, made of double tempered steel and has a higher coil count.
The upholstery is natural Talalay Latex and has no memory foam.
That mattress, shown here:

This mattress uses the same type of coil system as the Simmons Beautyrest....pre-compressed, individually pocketed coils...so, the type of support you’ve been used to will be the same.

This mattress comes with white glove delivery, which includes set-up and removal of your old mattress.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Protect and maximize your mattress investment. Use a waterproof mattress protector.

Thanks, Pete
