Hello Meredith,
The mattress you have, a Simmons Beautyrest Classic Trinity Park Plush, was a low end Series, with fewer coils than higher level Series’ of mattresses.
It was, also, one of the last mattresses made by Simmons with no memory foam in it.
The upholstery was polyurethane foam, which is higher quality than memory foam.

When Simmons makes a mattress ‘plush’, it does so by using coils made of thinner gauge steel, which creates a greater depth of softness.
Yours held up so well, despite the softer support, because the poly foam offered high quality resistance to compressing.

That is no longer the case.
All of today’s Simmons Beautyrest mattresses are upholstered with memory foam, which is purposefully designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing.
If you research reviews about Simmons Beautyrest, you’ll find them to be horrible.
The plush and pillowtop models are the big sellers, due to their initial comfort.
But with the poor quality upholstery, coupled with a thin gauge wire coil, there is no chance of it lasting more than a year, or so...showing signs of wear within months of purchase.

However, there is a way around all this, so that you can still take advantage of the excellent support provided by the pre-compressed, individually pocketed coils, which contour to the shape of your body and maintain the natural alignment of your spine.

Getting around this purposeful reduction in quality requires the purchase of two items.
1) The mattress...one of the firmer Simmons Beautyrest mattresses.
     Whenever there is a female involved, it’s better to opt for one of the ‘Luxury Firm’ 
     models. The luxury firm models will give a little better at the hip, which is where a 
     woman is usually more sensitive.
2) The latex topper....an essential product, which will insulate you from the memory 
     foam in the mattress...greatly extending the life of the mattress and providing 
     extraordinary surface comfort that remains like new for many years.
     (Latex is a natural material that has been thee best upholstery material for the last 
     100 years).

Which of the Simmons Beautyrest Series is a appropriate, is based on its use and the sizes of the people using it.
Your Classic Series model is now called ‘The Silver Series’.
Normally, I would recommend this to people light in weight, guest rooms, children and for those who simply can’t afford a better Series Beautyrest.

For a master bedroom with average weight adults, it would the Platinum Series.

For a master bedroom with heavy people up to 250 lbs., it would be the Black Series.
The Black Series Beautyrest mattresses use a triple strand wire coil in every other row of coils. It is the strongest coil system Simmons has to offer.
The least expensive ‘luxury firm’, the Desiree model, is recommended as necessary.

The latex topper to use with any of the recommended mattresses is:
The Pure Bliss Natural Talalay Latex Topper.
Under most conditions and circumstances, the 2” Plush is recommended.
The 3” isn’t softer, but provides a greater depth of softness.
Going with the 3” seems to work best for small people, who exert less pressure.
For those with disc related back problems, the 2” is recommended.

It is important to keep your upholstery clean and dry to maximize the life of the mattress. We recommend using a waterproof mattress protector.
Perspiration is the biggest cause requiring this.
