Lower Back Pain Worse with Simmons Beautyrest Silver Austin Reef Plush.

Good Morning,
I suffer from lower back pain and decided I needed a new mattress.
I got the Simmons Beautyrest Silver Austin Reef Plush, and I think it has made matters worse.
I am 5'2" and 123 lbs.  My partner is almost 6' and around 180. 
We both suffer from chronic lower back pain (sedentary jobs don't help). 
Can you recommend a good mattress?  I can't afford to keep buying mattresses :)

Sure, I can help you with that.

The Silver Series Beautyrest is fine at your size.
The Platinum Series has a higher coil count and is the appropriate choice for your partner’s size.
The big mistake was in choosing the “Plush” model, which uses a much thinner gauge wire for the coils.
In the old days, (not that long ago), the Plush would have been ok, because the upholstery material was so much better.
But now, the plush in combination with the memory foam is so bad, we don’t offer them on our website.
If you research reviews about Simmons Beautyrest, you’ll find they are horrible.
The reason why they are so bad, is because of the way they are bought and sold.
Like you, consumers buy the plush and pillowtop models became they are more comfortable...assuming that the quality will be there.
The salespeople, at stores, push these models because they’re easy to sell.

My recommendation for you comes in two parts.
The mattress to buy is the Simmons Beautyrest Platinum Series Gibson Grove Luxury Firm....shown here:

The pre-compressed, individually pocketed coil system is important to maintain the natural alignment of your spine, which will relieve your back pain.
The heavier gauge wire used for the coils does a much better job of that.

Next, you have to overcome the memory foam upholstery...which is purposefully designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing.
