Split Queen Latex Topper for Memory Foam Mattress Causing Hip Pain.

Hi Pete,
We spoke earlier today about a latex mattress topper. 
I talked to my wife and looked at your site and some of your recommendations. 
We want to get your feedback and verify a couple of things:

Current mattress: Brentwood Home memory foam/gel, 11 inches.
Mattress topper: We have a cheap, 2-inch foam mattress topper to try to soften it up a bit.
Complaint: Both us get hip pain from pressure points every night. We are side sleepers. And, the mattress/foam topper are hot.
Weight: I’m around 150; my wife is around 135.

We are hopeful that a 2-inch plush latex mattress topper might improve sleep and want to verify this with you. 
Do you have any other recommendations, before spending money. 
You had mentioned a 3-inch one for petite people. We’re both pretty light weight.
But, the current mattress set up with a 2-inch foam topper is the thickest the fitted sheets can accommodate. 
We can’t find anything for split queens that allows for a thicker set up, so think we’ll have to go with the 2-inch regardless.

To save money, is it possible to cut a regular queen mattress topper in two, or is that advised against?
Finally, is there any sort of warranty? And, regardless of the warranty, how long can the latex mattress topper be expected to last?

Memory foam is the source of your pain.
Adding a memory foam topper to a memory foam mattress amounts to adding insult to injury.
Memory foam has proven to be the worst upholstery material ever invented, over its 20 year history.
Conversely, natural latex is and has been the best upholstery material for the last 100 years.
