I've Been Sleeping on a Sealy Posturepedic Crown Jewel Mattress for More Than 15 Years.

Hi Pete,
I’ve been on the Sealy Posturepedic Crown Jewel mattress for more than 15 years, flipping and rotating.
I call it the trap, because it will prevent you from getting up and out!
It’s a plush and while one side is not what it used to be, the other side is still pretty good.

I’ve been offered a deal on a Sealy Posturepedic Bay Laurel Plush Euro Pillowtop mattress, and am considering getting it.

Are the new Sealy’s anywhere near the quality level of late 90’s, Sealy manufactured?  It would appear not.
We were in the mattress game at that time, and saw the non-flip movement as a detriment to longevity and factor in accelerated wear.

What are your thoughts?
Thanks Nigel

Hi Nigel,
Sealy was purchased by Tempurpedic in 2013.
Nothing they make, today, comes close to the quality they made prior to the company being sold.
They upholster everything with memory foam, which is purposefully designed to need frequent replacing.
Whether you’re paying full price or getting it for half, it’s a waste of money.
A mattress like that will last only a couple of years.
The warranty is worthless.
Thanks, Pete

It’s $125, less than a year old, slept on for 3 months. Good deal for like 2 years of use? It’s a Reserve series Plush Euro Pillowtop “Bay Laurel.”

It's not new.
The Reserve Series was made years ago.
If it was made prior to 2014, it's a good quality mattress and a steal at that price.
The white "Law" label, sewn into one of the seams at the head of the mattress, will give you the date it was made.

Thanks, Pete
