Replicating a 20 Year Old Sealy Posturepedic Mattress.

Henry writes:

Hi Pete,
I have a Sealy Posturepedic Premium Essex mattress and box spring (each about 7" thick) made in Paterson,  NJ, in 1993.
It has been in storage twice for a total of 8 years, so it effectively has had only 13 years of daily use.
I flip and rotate (head to foot) every six months or so.
The bed is in excellent shape.  I am always glad to return from a trip to sleep again in my bed.
I am very impressed...

Question:  If I wanted to buy, or recommend, the equivalent today, what would it be?

Everything I used to admire, made in America, has decreased in quality and typically is now made elsewhere.
To wit: Johnston Murphy shoes, Ralph Lauren Polo shirts, LL Bean clothing, etc.
Thank you, Henry

Hi Henry,
Sealy was purchased by Tempurpedic in 2013. Today, every Sealy Posturepedic mattress is loaded with memory foam.
Yours has no memory foam, which is why it's still in good shape.
In short, you cannot buy a Sealy Posturepedic mattress that is anywhere near the quality of your 20 year old mattress.

If you would like to make yours more comfortable you can add an EverEden Pure, All Natural 2" Soft Talalay Latex Topper.
In doing so, you will also extend the life of your mattress...putting off buying a new mattress for another 10 years, at least.
The surface comfort provided by this latex topper is extraordinary.
Here's a link to those latex toppers.

Soften the surface of a too firm mattress. Insulate yourself from the memory foam in your mattress to Sleep Cool. Extend the comfort life of your mattress.

Delivery is free and there's no sales tax.

Thanks, Pete
