Putting a new mattress on a 12 year old boxspring will void the warranty of the mattress.
A boxspring that old will have weak spots, to which the mattress will conform.
It's a lot to risk for such a small savings.
It's advisable to get a new boxspring.

That mattress comes with white glove delivery.
The new mattress is set up in your bedroom and the old mattress is taken away.
