The EverEden Pure, All Natural 2" Soft Talalay Latex topper does an excellent job of softening the surface of a mattress.
The 3" topper creates a greater depth of softness. 
If you are, both, on the light weight side, then go with the 3".
If either of you are heavier, then stay with the 2".
