Deep Body Impressions in a Plush Simmons Beautyrest Mattress.

Hi Pete,
I want to thank you for helping so many people and providing such a wonderful blog
I have a specific question, though, that I'd like you to address.
We have had 2 mattresses in the past few years.
We're trying to make this 2nd one last...but it's getting quite miserable
The first was a Simmons King Pillowtop that developed deep body impressions within 1 year. Simmons replaced the mattress with an Alana Plush King.
It, too, developed deep impressions within a year but they refused to replace it.
We have just put pillows under the mattress to try to make do.
But, it's time to get another as it's just not worth it anymore.
We have looked at everything and are just scared to buy a new one with the high possibility that another will develop sleep impressions as well.
We really like the low motion transfer that is with the more luxurious mattresses as we have different sleep cycles.
I'm pretty sure that we need to head in the latex directions, but to where do I turn?
100% springless latex? Springs and latex? Latex topper? On top of what?
What is the BEST way to prevent buying another mattress that will develop deep impressions? My husband is 6 ft 5 in and 235 lbs. I am 5 ft 5 in and 160 lbs.
We are willing to spend what needs to be spent within reason.
We are just very weary....
Thank you so much.
Sincerely, Beth
Hi Beth,
You should be weary...of all the name brands that have betrayed the trust with the consumer.
They have all be sold. The companies that bought them are using memory foam to recoup their investment...a material that wears poorly.
And, as you've seen, the warranties are worthless...basically.

Your choice of a Plush Simmons Beautyrest, is doubly bad.
Not only do you have memory foam, but the coils are made of a very thin gauge wire and the steel is not tempered.
The only good thing IS the individually pocketed coils, which does a great job of reducing motion transfer.
So, if you substitute high quality components for the low quality components in your mattress, you'll have everything you had hoped to get, have it for a very long time...and without any of the problems you're having now.
Such as:
Individually Pocketed Coils
A very high coil count.
Heavier gauge wire coils made of double tempered steel.
And, Natural Talalay Latex...with NO Memory Foam.

My wife and I sleep on such a mattress, and it is terrific...the best we've ever had.
It's made by Natura of Canada...their Greenspring line.
The most comfortable of the 5 models in that line, is the Plush EuroTop.

ALSO IMPORTANT:
I suggest using a waterproof mattress protector with every mattress.
Keeping your mattress clean and dry will greatly extend the life and loft of the upholstery materials inside. Ours sleep cool and make NO Noise.
