A Soft Talalay Latex Topper for a Too Firm Mattress.

Hi Pete,
I've been sleeping on a mattress for years that has always been too firm. 
I figure it's time to finally get something comfortable. 
But how can anyone decide with so many options and so little knowledge...?? 
I always thought I wanted a more firm mattress, because that's what I've always slept on. 
But my girlfriend insisted I try out a few plush pillows tops. 
She is a back sleeper. I am a side sleeper. 
She gets very hot when she sleeps, so features like cool gel and Aircool foam is appealing.
But  I wonder, do any of them really make a difference? 
One store tried to sell me on the Serta iSeries. 
Macy's tried to sell me on the Simmons Beautyrest Black.
Another shop, a Stearns and Foster mattress. 
Can you lend any advice and/or suggestions?

Hi Greg,
All of those "Name Brands" are upholstered with memory foam.
Memory foam softens as it warms from your body heat, and then allows you to sink.
Memory foam does this, because it it temperature sensitive.
It will absorb your body heat and then reflect it back to you.
The "cooling gel" delays this until the middle of the night, buy does not prevent it.

Giving up your firm mattress for one of these would be a huge mistake.
Not only are they a waste of money, their quick loss of comfort and support will cause pain.

Since the only thing wrong with your current mattress is that it's too firm, there's an easy fix.
Adding a layer of soft Talalay Latex to your mattress will provide a comfortable sleeping surface.
What's more, latex IS NOT temperature sensitive. It does not cause you to sleep hot.
Latex is very comfortable, but also very resilient. 
You don't sink through it, as you will with memory foam.
The feel it produces is one of "Floating"...and, it remains like new for many years.
I'm talking about Pure, All Natural, US made Latex, and not the latex imported from China.
The Chinese use clay as a filler, which cheapens the latex...making it less comfortable and less durable.
Add an EverEden 2" or 3" Soft Talalay Latex Topper to the mattress you have.
