Body Impressions Sealy Reflexion Venice Beach purchased 2004.

Hi Pete,
I think we have the same problem that I have been reading about mattress body impressions.
We bought our mattress in 2004 as my husband had back disc problems.
It's been a great mattress but now with the body indentations there is still good support but no softness.
We are starting to wake with sore hips and shoulders from pressure points.
We are not very heavy people, 154 lbs and 140 lbs.
So, from the other questioners, I think it is just the top layer breaking down not the whole mattress.
You have suggested to others, flipping the mattress and adding a Talalay Latex topper.
Since the bottom of the mattress has no padded cover what is the negative of placing the topper on top?

I am also unsure what type of topper to get to restore the original feel of the mattress. 2 inch or 3 inch, soft or firm, Talalay or Vytex?
Maybe you could help with that.

Does the topper have any sort of cover? I can't tell from the photos as it just shows the latex.
Our current mattress has lasted over 13 years, how long would we expect the Talalay topper to last?
Should we decide to go to a new mattress route rather than the topper, what would you recommend as an equivalent to our current mattress?

I appreciate your help and advice.
Thanks, Hazel

Hi Hazel,
If you put the latex topper on top of the mattress, it will contour to the body impressions.
It’ll be more comfortable, but you’ll still have the impressions.
If you flip the mattress over first, it’ll be like a new mattress...only better.
The latex doesn’t take body impressions, as the poly foam on top has.
All natural latex is extremely comfortable and long lasting.
Given your body weights, there’s no reason for your mattress to need replacing for another couple of decades.

The topper comes finished in a sewn on cover.
Simply flip the mattress, add the topper...and you’ll be fine for quite a long time.
The EverEden All Natural 2” Soft Talalay Latex Topper is the one to get.
It’s what we use at home.

Soften the surface of a too firm mattress. Insulate yourself from the memory foam in your mattress to Sleep Cool. Extend the comfort life of your mattress.

There really is no reason to go to the expense of a new mattress.
If I were to recommend one, it would be an individually pocketed coil mattress that’s upholstered with natural latex.
The reason for the change in type, is due to your husband’s disc related back problems.
The mattress is the Natura of Canada Greenspring Plush EuroTop Mattress.
