3 Year Old Sealy Posturepedic Mattress Sagging and Causing Neck & Shoulder Pain.

Ken writes:

Hi Pete,
My Sealy Posturepedic, which was great when new, is already sagging after only 3 years, and I am plagued by neck and shoulder pain.
I came across a couple of products on the internet that promise to fix a sagging or uncomfortable mattress.
The first one, "mattress rx" is an inflatable pillow type of support, placed under the mattress at its center, inflatable up to 5".
The second one, the "contour cloud mattress pad" is a topper composed of memory foam with a built-in lumbar support on a firm base.
Do these products work? Instead of going through the hassle of getting a new mattress, I was hoping for a quick, fairly inexpensive fix.
Thanks, Ken

Hi Ken,
Air bags rely on displacement, which is very poor support for your spine. And, sleeping on plastic bag will tend to be hot.
Memory foam is the worst upholstery material ever invented and will fail quickly...another waste of money.
You have a mattress that has lost it's support and comfort. Even adding a latex topper will only soften the surface, and not restore the lost support.
The only hope you have of avoiding the purchase of a new mattress, IS with a latex topper.
However, before adding the latex topper, you'll fist need to flip your mattress over.
Even though the mattress is made to be one sided, the underside is firm and will provide the necessary firm support your spine needs.
The latex topper will provide the surface comfort.
Here is a link to our latex toppers.
