Hi Pete,
I am looking on Amazon at two different latex mattresses and wanted your opinion on them.
They are the Ultimate Dreams Dreamfoam 10" latex or the Lucid by LinenSpa 10" latex.
I am hoping to get one of these for my 80 year old mom.
Thanks, Dawn
Hi Dawn,
You have to be careful when shopping for a latex mattress. They are often misrepresented.
Neither of these mattresses is a "Latex" mattress. They are Latex Hybrids. That is to say that each starts with a cheaper poly foam base.
The first is topped with Talalay latex, but they don't say how much. The second is topped with 3" of Dunlop latex.
The weak part of these mattresses, is the poly foam core. And, neither of these mattresses offer anything in the way of push back support against the back.
An 80 year old isn't as flexible has she once was, and will likely have a difficult time with this type of support.
She would be better off with an innerspring mattress that's upholstered with latex.
This way, she'll get excellent support and the surface comfort that only latex can provide.
Here is a link to two such mattresses. If she's heavy, go with the Adrian model. If she is small to average, then opt for the Adara model.
Both are reasonably priced.
