Hi Pete,
I am looking for a queen-size mattress to use with a platform bed. Currently, I have a Serta Perfect Day pillow-top ultra plush mattress that replaced an 18-year old Sealy Posturepedic.
Yes, I fell for the luxury sales pitch for my joint and arthritis issues. The mattress is a few years old and too tall (20 inches) for the platform.
While the mattress feels great when you first lay down, it has never been the perfect fit for me. The pillow top is memory foam which I sink into.
I have been alternating sides, (in place of flipping the mattress), to sleep. But even after just a few years, it is easy to see it will not hold up.
After reading several of your posts, a latex mattress seems the way to go but I am lost as to which one would accommodate my health concerns, (hip, knee, and pelvic joint issues).
Also, how long is transit to ship to Kentucky?
Thanks, Stephanie
Hi Stephanie,
While you couldn't have made to much worse a choice, you can take comfort in the fact that there are very few good choices available.
Even the Sealy Posturepedics are but a shadow of their former glory...a far cry from what they produced 18 years ago.
Latex, on the other hand, continues to be the best type of mattress on the market...as it has been since the 1920s.
Latex's more recent popularity is due to all the lousy beds there are to choose from.
18 years ago, spending the extra for a latex mattress didn't make a lot of sense, since you could buy a perfectly good, long lasting mattress for just a few hundred dollars.
Now, it's common to spend thousands of dollars and wind up with the same terrible results you got from your Serta.
Latex has an incredible feel...very supportive, the best for pressure point relief, improved blood flow, and comfort beyond anything else.
We carry a few lines of latex beds.
The "king of the hill", so to speak, is Talalay Bliss. They are they premier maker of latex mattresses in the world, and have been for a very long time...several decades, in fact.
We also carry the EverEden latex models. These, too, are very high quality, but not as elaborately made.
Natura is another brand, very similarly made to Talalay Bliss.
And, if you want organic, we have latex mattresses from Palmpring.
Order time for delivery to Kentucky will vary a little, but all fall between 2 and 3 weeks.
