Hi Pete,
I found you on line to ask a specific question, but after reading your posts, I wish I had contacted you sooner.
I bought and just received a S&F Estate mattress with a euro-pillowtop.
I got this one because of the comfort, which I see may have been a mistake.
Anyway, this mattress has the padding all puffed up on one side...not lying flat.
After speaking with you, I can see how this can happen if not properly stored in the warehouse.
My question is, what do I get that will give me the comfort I need for my sore hip...after I send this one back?
We are not big people.
Thanks, Janice

Hi Janice,
The mattress you bought, S&F Estate, is now owned by Tempurepedic. And, as on 2014, all those mattresses are loaded with memory foam.
Memory foam is the worst upholstery material ever invented. It wears poorly and it off gasses the toxic chemicals from which it's made...chemicals like formaldehyde and benzene, just to name a couple of the 61 total chemicals used to make it.
S&F went from being the Cadillac of the industry, to junk bedding in the blink of an eye.
We used to be a Sealy/S&F retailer, but not since Tempurpedic bought them.
Memory foam feel great, at first, but loses its resiliency to a noticeable degree with months....when you'll find that your hip will begin to get sore.
Memory foam is used to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing...a boon for the industry and a nightmare for the consumer.
"What about the warranty", you might ask? Well, that the truly diabolical part of memory foam.
Even after it has lost its resiliency and comfort, and you're sinking deeply into it, it will return to its original shape, or close enough to it, that you will not likely prevail in a warranty claim.
The criteria for determining a defect, is a sustained impression on 1.5" deep...with nobody on it....rendering the warranty useless.
If you want surface softness and want it to stay like new for years, then all natural, chemical free, soft Talalay Latex is the best way to achieve that.
So, what we recommend for you, is a Simmons Beautyrest World Class in luxury firm and an Ever-Eden 2" soft Talalay Latex mattress topper.
Together, they work well. The individually pocketed coils provide contouring support, which relieves pressure point.
The latex topper provides surface comfort that lasts. It insulates you from the memory foam in the mattress. It absorbs so much of your body weight, that the mattress will now last the 10 years you expected.
Here are the links to both products.
