I have gotten excellent wear from my double sided pillowtop Sealy that has been turned and flipped religiously for the last 20 years. 
I am 58, 145 with recent lower back pain. I tried the Simmons Beautyrest Black series extra firm at Macys, after seeing your blog, and really liked it. 
Also, liked a Stearns & Foster ultra firm. I could go with either one but, prefer to go with the better quality mattress that will give me the best service over time. 
Which would you recommend?

There's no question that the Simmons Black is the higher quality of the two...and, by far.
Still, I can't help but feel that you are over buying, based on your size.
The Simmons Black models are where we go for people over 200 lbs.
Certainly, you can't go wrong with that, but I'd like you to also consider the lesser expensive World Class Beautyrest...
...either the Santorini in extra firm, or the Elsmere Ultimate Firm.
