The latex topper is necessary, but since your mother is only going to be with you a short time, there's no need to go to the expense of a Black model.
The Simmons Beautyrest Black Ava luxury firm with a latex topper, is what we would have recommended for her, as a permanent, long term purchase.
Given the short term use, you can give her the right support and comfort for a whole lot less money.
