Simmons Beautyrest Black Alexia Extra Firm Mattress Needs Soft Latex Topper.

Hi Pete,

I bought a simmons beautyrest hybrid memory foam mattress and had to return it. It smelled really bad and gas smell from it made me very sick.

I exchanged it for a simmons beautyrest black alexia extra firm mattress.  I have a L5 herniated disk and bad upper back and neck problems from an auto accident.  

The extra firm mattress is killing my back and putting my arms to sleep.  Wake up every few hours in pain.

Have read so many articles that L5 herniated disk problems need a firm mattress.

I see sites that recommend buying a memory foam pad for the firm mattress.

Any suggestions?

Hi Terri,

I certainly hope you don't follow that recommendation. Memory foam off gasses the toxic chemicals from which it's made.

Buying a memory foam pad will do the same. And, to make matters worse, it doesn't work.
