Herniated Discs made worse with a Tempurpedic mattress.

Heather writes:

Hi Pete,
My husband has a herniated disc.  Tonight he is sleeping on the floor as he has been told he needs to sleep on a hard surface.  The problem I am having with this is recently we purchased the Tempurpedic cloud mattress.  This was before the herniated disc episode.  Would a latex topper help with this situation and or should we really think about purchasing a harder mattress?  Look forward to your response.
Thank you - Heather

Hi Heather,

The latex topper is your logical first step. You can flip your mattress over and sleep on the harder underside. The topper will help to make that comfortable.
If you find that your husband needs an even firmer sleeping surface, you'll still need to use the topper on whatever mattress you buy next.
However, you stand a very good chance of not needing a new mattress. A good test for that would be to flip your Tempurpedic over now and see how his back reacts to the underside.
Here is the link to the latex toppers. 2" of soft Talalay appied to the underside of your mattress. Delivery is free and there's no sales tax.
