Hi Pete!
It is so nice to talk to an expert!
My husband and I recently slept on a queen sized mattress at a Main Stay Suites in Pigeon Forge, TN that was labeled "Beauty Rest Mattress, by Simmons Hospitality, Choice Hotels II, plush."
It had a brief soft sink-in, then a great firmness underneath. My husband's back pain was gone after three days on it!
I haven't been able to find its equivalent online, and when I asked for specifications on it (at a hospitality mattress online store), I was told that the specs were not available for the public.
Can you help us know what would be a retail equivalent or how to get one?
Thanks sincerely, Constance
Hi Constance,
Finding comfortable hotel mattresses is as easy as finding comfortable mattresses at stores.
Unfortunately, in both cases, you're looking at comfort that won't last you more than a year or two.
Since you have every expectation that what you buy will remain comfortable over the years to come, let me direct you as to how to get that.
First, you need to understand the problem. A "Plush" Beautyrest is extraordinarily comfortable when new.
A hotel rotates their rooms, so each room may get used 3 times a week, on average.
In a hotel, a plush Beautyrest could last 4-6 years, before needing to be replaced.
for use in a master bedroom, you'd be lucky to get a year or two, depending on body weight.
What makes a Beautyrest "plush" is a much thinner gauge wire for the coil than what is used in their firmer models.
This thin gauge wire poops out rather quickly.
What makes a Beautyrest so comfortable, is the individually pocketed coils, with each coil moving independently of the others.
This provides contouring support that maintains the natural alignment of your spine.
All of the Beautyrests support you in this manner.
The padding inside the mattress is memory foam and polyurethane foam. Neither, of which, is very durable...resulting in body impressions.
Get a pillowtop model and that problem accelerates.
Your solution is a Beautyrest World Class Annapolis Place luxury firm or firmer and more durable support.
And, add a 2" soft Talalay Latex foam mattress topper. Latex is extraordinarily comfortable and extremely long lasting.
To give you an idea of what I mean, my wife & I sleep on a luxury firm Beautyrest with a 2" soft Talalay Latex topper.
The mattress is 3.5 years old. The topper is now 6+ years old, and both are in like new condition...and, my wife and I are large people.
This, is how to get what you want and the value of having it last for many years.
Here are links to the mattress and the latex toppers. Delivery is free and there's no sales tax.
