Serta iComfort vs. Simmons Beautyrest Black Model Mattresses.

My wife and I have narrowed our purchase of a king set down to the iComfort or the Beautyrest Blacks.  I've read a few of good reviews about memory foam and the iComfort, but a lot of bad ones, as well.  We're both side and back sleepers, on the heavy side.  I'm concerned about sinking into the iComfort and whether is sleeps hot.  But we're tired of the pains in hips and back from innerspring mattresses and thinking the memory foam might provide something different.  Can you comment?

Hi Tom,
The performance of these to types of mattresses is like night and day.
I get a ton of complaints about the Serta iComfort. You should read some of the complaints about memory foam before buying into the hype.
It provides something different, all right....comfort that sells and doesn't last...a huge disappointment is what it provides...not to mention a total waste of money.
The Simmons Black models are the best, strongest innersprings available among the name brands.
My wife and I sleep on an older version of the Simmons Beautyrest Black Ava luxury firm. We also use a 2" soft latex topper with it.
The biggest problem with today's mattresses is the compression of the poly and memory foams used. Adding a latex topper extends the life of the mattress far beyond that which the manufacturers intended...providing you with much greater value for your dollar, as the price per year drops dramatically. And, there is nothing as comfortable as soft latex.
Latex is all natural foam rubber. It has none of the toxic chemicals or toxic off-gassing that you'll get with memory foam.
