A memory foam mattress gave us both back pain.

Hi Pete,
My husband and I have been looking for the perfect mattress for a few months now, and so far, we had little luck.
We are both young (late 20s and early 30s) and healthy. We bought a memory foam mattress and it gave us both back pain and horrible sleep, so we are back to searching for the good old spring mattress. We really enjoy our sleep when we stay at Hilton hotels and SPG hotels such as Sheraton. Can you please advise on what mattresses we should look at?
Thank you, Shirin

Hi Shirin,
Your difficulty lies in seeking that which does not exist.
Today's mattresses are made to be comfortable enough to sell, but not perform well and not last very long....all in an effort to have you become a frequent mattress buyer.
Memory foam is sold as if it were the best thing since sliced bread. It is, in fact, the worst material ever invented for this purpose.
The best thing ever invented, discovered rather, is all natural latex foam rubber...and has been for nearly 100 years.
You don't see it used in conventionally made mattresses because it would thwart the industry'e efforts to sell more mattresses. Latex lasts a very long time.
You can buy an expensively made all latex mattress for about what you would spend for a cheaply made memory foam mattress...and have it do everything that they promised memory foam would do....do it better and for a much much longer period of time.
However, if money is an issue, you can get good results from a reasonably priced firm innerspring mattress, topped with a 2" layer for soft Talalay Latex foam rubber.
The firm innerspring will provide proper spinal support and the latex topper will provide pressure point relief, muscular relaxation, and unrestricted blood flow...all combining for a deeper, more restful night's sleep.
This is what my wife and I sleep on at home, and it's as close to perfection as you will get.
If you'd like to start with the mattress from those hotels, that would be an E-Level Sealy Posturepedic, which we can get for you at $1099 for the queen st and $1399 for the king set.
The 2" soft latex toppers run $350 in queen and $450 in king.
Delivery of a freshly made mattress is free, including set-up, and there's no sales tax. The topper arrives UPS.
You can read about the latex toppers by following this link.

Thanks, Pete
