Sealy mattress question.

Kim writes:

I am trying to research two Sealy mattresses that I saw locally but I have scoured the internet and cannot seem to find any useful information (or to find a better price).
The first one (the one that I am most interested in) they call the Sealy Posturepedic Diamond Select and list it as model 509096. Relevant Information: Coil Density: T 496 F 682 Q 825 K 1056 CK 1050; Comfort Layer: FlameGuard Rayon Fiber, .5" Hypersoft, 1.5" x .5" Conv. Hypersoft, 1" OptiCool Gel Memory Foam with Outlast, 1.5" Marvelux, 1" Gel Memory Foam, Gel Memory Foam CoreSupport Center

I can barely find any Sealy mattresses with Marvelux in them, and I cannot find another single mattress online that has 1.5" of Marvelux in it!
The second one they call the Sealy Posturepedic Firm Plush and list it as model 507328. Relevant information: Coil Density: T - 496, F - 682, Q - 825, K - 1061, CK -1050; Comfort Layers: FlameGuard Rayon Fiber, .5" Hypersoft, 1.5" x .5" Conv. Hypersoft, 1" SuperSoft ActiveFlex, 2" ActiveFlex, .5" Gel Memory Foam, CoreSupport Center with Gel Memory Foam

I am interested in a generally firm bed but I also read to stay away from anything with "Hypersoft" in it.  Is that true?
Thank you so much for your time! Kim

Hi Kim,
If you are looking to avoid the dreaded body impressions that form so easily in today's mattresses, hypersoft and convoluted poly foams...and all memory foams would be good to avoid.
Very hard to do, now that Sealy is owned by Tempurpedic.
In fact, most mattresses are designed to need replacing withing a couple/few years.
These same foams that make the mattress comfortable in the showroom, fail quickly...made to sell, but not to last.
The best material is and has been all-natural latex, which is very soft and extremely resilient.
My recommendation is to by a mattress that is firmer than you like, and add a 2" soft layer of latex to the top....in lieu of buying a pillowtop model.
The latex will give you long lasting comfort and extend the the life of the mattress well beyond that which the manufacturer intended.
Here are links to peruse. The mattress is a hotel grade Posturepedic...and, to the latex toppers.
Together, they resist body impressions and provide a sleep system that won't end up being a waste of money...like the ones you're currently considering.
